We mapped m6A at single-nucleotide resolution in planarians and found that simple sequence rules govern its deposition. While individual readers of m6A YTHDF proteins were found to be non-essential, suppressing multiple ythdf genes reduced body size and depleted progenitor lineages, demonstrating the critical role of m6A in cell fate determination.
