Data for: Doom and gloom versus optimism: an assessment of ocean-related science journalism (2001-2015)

Data represents content analysis of 169 articles published in U.S. mainstream newspapers covering ocean science reporting from 2001 through 2015. Articles were categorized according to dominant issue, basis of evidence provided, causal attribution, presence of solutions and uncertainty, and inclusion of doom and gloom as well as optimistic language.本数据集包含对2001年至2015年间美国主流报纸刊载的169篇海洋科学报道文章的内容分析。研究人员依据核心议题、证据基础、因果归因、是否涉及解决方案与不确定性，以及是否包含悲观论调与乐观表述等维度，对所有文章进行了分类。
