Gametophyte transcriptome of the brown alga Saccharina latissima during gametogenesis

A reference shotgun transcriptome was generated for the gametophyte generation of the sugar kelp Saccharina latissima (Phaeophyceae; Laminariales), from pooled isolates of males and females. Comparative gene expression in females and males was studied during vegetative growth and transfer to gametogenic conditions.
