Replication Data for Democratic Blind Spots

This data was compiled for the dissertation Democratic Blind Spots: Organized Labor and Subnational Authoritarian Persistence in Mexico. The unique variables used in chapters 3 and 4 are annual municipal counts of strikes and strike petitions (or strike threats). I compiled these counts using annual reporting from the local labor and arbitration boards, which were collected and presented by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography. These reports (under the name Estadísticas sobre relaciones laborales de jurisdicción local de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos) begin in 1991 and I use annual data through 2006.
