Our results showed that the genetic deletion of TRIM72 reduced the renewal ability of AT2 cells in the bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in a mouse model. TRIM72KO-AT2 cells had increased levels of oxidative stress and senescence markers. Lung fibrosis was persistent in SPC-TRIM72KO mice as compared to WT counterparts. TRIM72 overexpression in AT2 cells reduced bleomycin-induced oxidative stress and senescence.
