FM-120 data

Two typical field sites were chosen to measure water droplets. One is a coastal site in Zhoushan, Zhejiang (29.97°N, 122.32°E, 94.5m a.s.l.) along the East China Sea. The other regional mountain site is in Shanghuang, Zhejiang (28.58°N, 119.51°E, 1128m a.s.l.) in southeastern China. Besides, cloud chamber experiments were conducted to simulate clouds with configured conditions. The pure ammonium sulphate aerosol particles were used as condensation nuclei and were sprayed into the cloud chamber using an aerosol atomizer on top, with concentration controlled by the spray time. Initial aerosol concentrations of 1000 and 500 cm^-3 were used. The size distributions of droplets were measured using the fog monitor (FM-120, DMT inc.), which determines droplet diameters at 2-50 µm with 30 size bins based on the forward light scattering of particles.
