Optimal thinning regimes for Taiwania plantations in Liu-Kuei Experiment Forest

This study was based on the data of Taiwania plantations located at Liouguei experimental forest (permanent plots and stem analysis), the site index curve, volume growth function, basal area function and tree-high growth function could be got. On the basis of Dynamic programming, different stages were to simulate implementing thinning operations. To get the best strategy oh thinning operations, the greatest harvest volume and net present value were to be supposed. The program was compiled by C language and implemented by compiler. The following results could be got : higher site index stands had shorter rotations and higher planting cost had longer rotations.
