NRS-20189 | Cash Books [Hume Pastures Protection Board]

This series is a collection of cash books for the Hume Pastures Protection Board (situated in the Holbrook area). The Pastures Protection Act 1934, Section 16, states that, "Every board shall, in January in each year, cause an account in the prescribed form to be prepared of its receipts and expenditure for the year preceding under distinct heads, with a statement of the balance. Such account shall be duly audited and certified." A copy of such an account was to be published by March every year in one or more district newspapers. Copies were also be furnished to the Minister and the Auditor-General.Each double page spread is divided with the left page titled, "Cash, Dr." and the right page titled, "Contra, Cr." The headings on the Cash page include: date; receipt, nature and number; name; particulars; assessment number; amount, rates, miscellaneous, brands etc, exchange; daily total; banked, amount and date; brand and mark fees; gazette fees; assessment, arrears, current and interest. The headings on the Contra page include: date; cheque; name; particulars; folio of receipt book; amount; salaries, scalp bonuses, Chairman and Directors, rent, sundries; total payments; withdrawn from bank; Board's car; office expenses; and miscellaneous.
