The candidate bacteria has been isolated from the intertidal macroalgae of Southern coast of India. The strain B. amyloliquefaciens MB6 was exhibiting significant antibacterial, anticancer, wound healing, anti inflammatory and probiotic effects. Hence, to further characterize the secondary metabolite genes responsible for the production of bioactive compounds the bacterial genome has been sequenced completely.
