This dataset contains daily observed precipitation values for 27 rain gauges located across the mountainous Cathedral Peak research catchments, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The record starts from 1 October 2013 until 30 September 2019. The altitude of the rain gauges ranges from 1 848 to 2 280 m.a.s.l. The data has been quality controlled and checked for consistency using the methods outlined in the supplementary information.
