As a matter of principle and with some exceptions, Sunday is a day of rest. However, in retail establishments where the weekly rest period normally takes place on Sundays, this rest period may be abolished on Sundays designated, for each retail business, by an order of the mayor taken after the opinion of the municipal council or the community council, as the case may be, and of the employers' and workers' organizations concerned. The number of such Sundays may not exceed twelve per year.
