Neoadjuvant durvalumab plus radiation versus durvalumab alone in stages I-III non-small cell lung cancer: survival outcomes and molecular correlates of a randomized phase II trial

Randomized phase II trial patients with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer were treated with either two preoperative cycles of the anti-PD-L1 antibody durvalumab alone or combined with immunomodulatory doses of stereotactic radiation. We report, based on transcriptome analyses of resected tumors, a correlation between an increase of immune pathway genes and freedom from recurrence. RNA-seq studies of resected tumors to identify biomarkers of recurrence in a clinical trial of immune checkpoint blockade therapy in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer.
