Revealing the microbial diversity present in septic tank wastewater using a metagenomic approach

This study explores the microbial diversity present in septic tank wastewater using a metagenomic approach. High-throughput sequencing was employed to identify and classify bacterial and archaeal communities without the need for culturing. The analysis revealed the dominance of key functional microbes involved in organic matter degradation and nutrient cycling. These findings provide valuable insights into the microbial ecology of septic systems and their potential role in wastewater treatment.
