Single nucleotide polymorphisms reveal novel insights in biological and management units of common sole (Solea solea) in the Celtic Sea

Common sole (Solea solea) is a key commercial flatfish species in Europe, yet its stock identity in the southern Celtic Sea and southwest of Ireland (ICES area 7h and 7j) is uncertain, resulting in a precautionary approach to fisheries management and declining quota. This data contains the GBS sequences for 475 individuals (including replicates) that were created to study the population structure of sole and their connectivity patterns from the southern North Sea to Bay of Biscay. The GBS sequences were obtained using two restriction enzymes PstI and MspI.
