Aboveground water catchment areas (WEG) Saxony-Anhalt

The state water supply service in the state operation for flood protection and water management determines above-ground water catchment areas (WEG) for the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The exclusion of the catchment areas of flow and standing waters is based on existing altitude and relief information from the official topographic map 1:10 000, the digital landscape model 1:25 000 (DLM25), digital terrain models and orthophotos. The catchment areas are encrypted with area indicators according to the national “Guideline for Area and Water Encryption” (LAWA, 2005), so that a cross-border summary of interconnected catchment areas is possible on the basis of these indicators. The data are provided as vector data in shape format for the region of Saxony-Anhalt, catchment area shares in neighbouring federal states are recorded close to the border.
