资源简介:
The reports are from the Medical Superintendant, previously Registrar and later Medical Director, to the Committee of Management. Information in the reports includes a summary of events for the reporting period, any serious outbreaks of illness in the community, illness or absence of specific medical and nursing staff, staff appointments and retirements, any initiatives implemented or new equipment. They give an overview of activity at the hospital for each reporting period. Each report is between 1-3 pages long with the addition of a page of statistical information for the reporting period (or the month). This includes a list of deaths with the cause (diagnosis), the child's name, age and ward last in. Separate statistics are included for the Brighton and Sherbrooke convalescent cottage and from 1930, for the Orthopaedic Section at Frankston, until September 1951, after which deaths only are recorded. Coroner's cases are also noted (from circa 1950).The duties of the Medical Superintendent, the items to be reported on and how these are to be recorded are described in VPRS 16822 Rule Books. The existence of reports prior to 1922 and post 1959 is subject to further research.Prior to transfer to Public Record Office Victoria, the records in this series were maintained as part of the RCH Archives. They were part of RCH accession number 2010/008.
