Effects of cold stress on skeletal muscle of Mashen and Large White pigs

Cold stress is one of the most important threats to animal husbandry. Many measures have been taken to alleviate the adverse effects on pig production performance of cold stress. However, the current large-scale production and breeding methods based on introduced breeds make livestock and poultry more sensitive to ambient temperature. The molecular mechanism of cold resistance in pigs under cold stress is still poorly understood. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to analyze the transcriptome sequencing data of the longissimus dorsi muscle of Mashen pigs and Large White pigs at room temperature and low-temperature, and to screen the common cold resistance genes, MS-specific cold resistance genes and their regulatory pathways in the two breeds.
