Navigating the future of urban logistics: Conceptual framework for Dynamic Freight Management

Sustainable management of urban logistics (UL) is crucial for reducing congestion, enhancingenvironmental quality, and improving liveability in cities. Traditional approaches are increasinglyinadequate due to intensified urbanisation and e-commerce growth. This paper proposes anovel Dynamic Freight Management (DFM) conceptual framework that employs real-time dataanalytics and comprehensive traffic information to optimise urban freight operations. Reviewingthe existing literature and integrating diverse methodologies, we developed a holistic strategythat aligns freight activities with urban traffic patterns to minimise disruptions and environmentalimpacts. The framework advocates for multi-stakeholder collaboration and supportspolicy recommendations for its implementation. Through theoretical analysis and case studies,this research study illustrates the potential of DFM to transform UL by reducing congestion andemissions, thus contributing to more sustainable urban environments.
