Parallel aerobic granular sludge and activated sludge reactors treating wastewater. Activated sludge and granular sludge

At a wastewater treatment plant in western Sweden, aerobic granular sludge (AGS) and activated sludge (AS) reactors are used to treat municipal wastewater. Two AGS reactors and one AS reactor are operated in parallel and receive the same influent wastewater. Sludge samples from all three reactors were collected on four occasions to compare the microbial communities.
