Effect of nitrogen fertilizer reduction and organic amendment on soil bacterial and fungal communities in a N-overfertilized wheat-maize cropping system

It is known that excessive N fertilization destroys soil microbiome. Yet, how microbiome in the N-overfertilized soil responds to reduced mineral N input and organic fertilization remains not completely clear. Herein, using a N-overfertilized winter wheat and summer maize rotation field, we explored the effect of nitrogen fertilizer reduction plus organic fertilization on soil bacterial and fungal communities, based on high-throughput amplicon sequencing technique.
