This is a photograph of the daughter of Fr. Sullivan's cook. She is doing a native dance and "is getting a big kick out of it." She is wearing a sailor's dress with pants underneath and socks rolled over the pants and has a short haircut.; Born in Pennsylvania, Fr. Sullivan came to Maryknoll in 1926 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1937. He was assigned to Fushun, Manchuria and was repatriated to the United States in 1943. In 1947 he returned to Fushun but was forced to abandon his mission the following year. He was temporarily assigned to the Kweilin Prefecture where he was Regional Director of Catholic Welfare. In 1950 he was assigned to Taiwan where he was actively engaged in parochial work.
