A LINGUISTIC-COGNITIVE INTERPRETATION OF METAPHORS EXPRESSING LOVE IN THE CONCEPT OF FAMILY

This article investigates the linguistic and cognitive representation of the concepts family and love through conceptual metaphors in Abdulla Qodiriy’s “O‘tkan kunlar” and Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice”. The study explores how abstract socio-emotional notions such as love, morality, fate, responsibility, and marriage are conceptualized via concrete, embodied domains. The analysis demonstrates that despite cultural and historical differences, both Eastern and Western literary traditions rely on universal cognitive mechanisms, while encoding distinct value systems through metaphorical patterns.
