Data from Trans Border Study on Seme and Idi-Iroko

The on-going security threats in Nigeria have been largely attributed to fledging organized crimes along two most popular borderlands between Nigeria and Benin Republic (the Seme and Idi-Iroko border areas). The study was conceived to establish veracity or otherwise of the claim. Empirical evidence from analyzed data indicated prominence of six genres of organized crimes. The study concluded that the inordinate practices constitute a huge negative burden on the nation in different spheres, security risk in particular. Immediate upgrade of border security operations digitization entwined with aerial surveillance, strategic recruitment and national rebirth project to encourage legitimate practices were recommended.尼日利亚当前面临的安全威胁，在很大程度上被归咎于该国与贝宁共和国两处最主要边境地带（Seme与Idi-Iroko边境地区）出现的新兴有组织犯罪活动。本研究旨在验证上述说法的真实性与否。经分析数据所得的实证证据显示，当地存在六大类突出的有组织犯罪活动。研究结论表明，这类违法失范行为给国家多个领域造成了沉重的负面影响，其中尤以安全风险最为突出。报告建议，应立即推进边境安保作业的数字化升级，并结合空中巡逻、战略性人员招录以及鼓励合法从业的国家复兴计划等相关举措。
