Travel demand modeling and its applications in transport and non-transport domains

The thesis focuses on strategic travel demand models for networks with autonomous vehicles. In this thesis, we propose a comprehensive framework to extend the traditional 4-step model to capture the impacts of autonomous vehicles. This thesis is then dedicated to the design and implementation of an activity-based, agent-based model at city-scale. The thesis then discusses the incorporation of AV features in the developed activity-base, agent-based model. Finally, the thesis employs the travel demand models using both trip-based and agent-based approaches to compare and study problem outside the transport domain.
