We aimed to elucidate the elusive physiological mechanism converting thermodynamic signals into root remodeling. We hypothesized that wheat roots adapt to opposing cold and heat stresses through convergent morphological plasticity, driven by distinct hormonal signaling pathways that are coordinated by cellular iron homeostasis.
