Post-fire soil erosion measurements from field plots

Dataset description This is a dataset of post-fire soil erosion measurements compiled from per reviewed studies integrating plot-scale data. The dataset was first developed for the publication Girona-García et al. (2021) and has since been updated for the validation of recent global modelling efforts on post-fire soil erosion. It is important to note that this dataset does not result from an exhaustive or systematic search for post-fire erosion data. The initial data collection aimed to support Girona-García et al. (2021) by including studies featuring both burned plots and corresponding control or mitigation measurements, ensuring comparability across sites. Subsequently, additional data were incorporated to enhance the dataset’s completeness; however, these additions still do not represent a systematic or comprehensive compilation of all available plot-scale post-fire erosion studies. The work of this dataset can be connected to the original motivation study Girona-García et al. (2021), but also to Girona-García et al. (2023) , and to Girona-García et al. (2024a), and to the associated dataset Girona-García et al. (2024b).
