The sequences come from a metabarcoding study conducted in 2019 on bauxite residue produced in southern France. Bauxite residue is an alkaline by-product generated during alumina extraction and represents a hostile environment for most domains of life. Both 16S rRNA and ITS gene sequences were PCR amplified and sequenced by the Illumina platform to elucidate the structure and dynamics of bacterial and fungal communities in bauxite residue samples of different ages and origins.
