Store brand fruit juices from supermarkets (like Aldi or Lidl) were the most consumed in Germany, followed by brands Hohes C and Granini. Roughly 23.3 million people bought and drank Aldi and Lidl brand juices in 2020.Decreasing consumptionGerman consumers drank decreasing amounts of fruit juice in recent years across all flavors and types. This was especially obvious when looking at orange and apple juice consumption. Per capita fruit juice consumption fell after 2003, amounting to 30.5 liters in 2019. A contributing factor in these trends may be growing awareness of the amount of sugar that most fruit juice sold in stores contains and subsequent long-term health effects, as well as interest in fair-trade products and fresh fruit juice. Fruitful exportsNon-carbonated fruit juice production volumes have been rather stable in recent years, decreased however from almost 724.8 million liters in 2018 to 653.2 million liters in 2019. German fruit and vegetable juice is also an export product, with almost 846.5 million euros generated in 2019.
