Data from: Calibrating a fire intensity model to predict topkill risk for trees in an African savanna

In this submission, we provide code and data to analyse the problem of predicting topkill responses of savanna trees in intense and unsupervised fires. We parameterize a semi-mechanistic model of fire intensity (Higgins et al. 2008. International Journal of Wildland fire, 17, 595–601) with data from plot-scale fires in Kruger National Park, South Africa. We analyse topkill risk for trees in a wide range of fires by integrating the parameterized model with other known determinants of risk (such as tree height, elephant damage). We conducted all analyses in R. The JAGS models were run in R using the R2jags package.
