Supplementary Material for: A Case of Male Breast Cancer in Rural America: Treatment Delays and Healthcare Access Challenges

Breast cancer is the most common and second leading cancer mortality in women the most common and second leading cancer mortality in women. Men are also affected by breast cancer, accounting for less than 1% of all breast cancer cases. Despite relatively low incidence, mortality is estimated to be higher than in women counterparts. Breast cancer treatment in men presents many challenges, including but not limited to diagnosis, access to care, scientific data, clinical trial eligibility. Here we present a case of metastatic breast cancer in a male patient who lives in a rural community and many obstacles during his treatment. We hope to further bring awareness to the disparity of cancer diagnosis and treatment in this population with the goal to improve survival and mitigate recurrence
