This dataset contains 150 user comments collected from five TikTok videos featuring Chinese drama content. Each video contributes 30 comments that were selected from the most visible or highly ranked comment threads to capture interactions with high engagement potential. The dataset includes both textual and multimodal elements, such as emoji usage, emoticons, number of likes, number of replies, and thematic narrative patterns that emerged from user interactions. All comments were manually coded to identify indicators relevant to Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC) and Social Exchange Theory (SET), including symbolic substitution, affective expression, reward cues, cost cues, and reciprocity patterns. The dataset is fully anonymized and contains no personally identifiable information. It is provided in CSV format to support transparency, replicability, and secondary analysis in digital communication research. This dataset was used as the primary empirical material for the qualitative content analysis conducted in the associated research manuscript.
