While employing single-cell transcriptomics of the Plutella xylostella larval midgut under radish and pea host diets, this study primarily elucidates the diet-dependent regulatory landscape of glucosinolate sulfatases (GSSs) and delineates the differentiation trajectory of GSS-expressing cells. Comparative analyses revealed host-specific expression patterns of three GSS genes (GSS1-GSS3) and their protein levels, alongside tracing the cellular origin of GSS-expressing populations.
