Red clover root-associated microbiota

Red clover (Trifolium pratense) is the number one forage legume in Northern Europe. Reports on drastic reduction of red clover plants in forage mixtures between harvest seasons and years are increasing. Whether this plant loss is a sign of increasing number of pathogens, decreasing beneficial soil microorganism or presence of new pathogens are unclear. We collected red clover root samples across Sweden and analyzed their prokaryotic and eukaryotic communities using amplicon sequencing.
