Data and code for "Trapping and Fracture of Particles in Three-Sphere Ball-Milling Collisions"
收藏资源简介:
This Zenodo deposit accompanies the manuscript "Trapping and Fracture of Particles in Three-Sphere Ball-Milling Collisions" (Z. Cui, Q. Zhang, S. Liu, R. M. Lueptow), submitted to Powder Technology. It provides data and code for DEM simulations performed in LAMMPS (12 Jun 2025 release). The simulations model a stationary limestone target particle resting against a fixed steel grinding ball (radius 25 mm) and struck by an incoming steel grinding ball. Contacts use Hertz normal contact with a coefficient of restitution and Mindlin tangential contact limited by Coulomb friction. The timestep is 1e-7 s. Contents: data/sweep_results.csv: 15,364 rows (one per simulation). Inputs: impact velocity v, impact angle α, obliquity angle γ (stored as the impact parameter b), size ratio R = r_g/r_t, and friction coefficient μ. Outputs: maximum Christensen failure function f_C, maximum Weibull failure function f_W, peak compressive principal stress of the volume-averaged stress tensor of the target particle, contact duration, maximum overlap, and peak Weibull effective compressive force. These simulations correspond to Figs. 4–7. LAMMPS input templates, plus shell/Python scripts to set up, run, and analyze the simulations. Python scripts that regenerate the paper's data figures (Figs. 2, 4–7, and S1) from the included data (no simulations required). Raw LAMMPS output (~32 MB; particle positions, velocities, and angular velocities) for the five illustrative runs shown in Fig. 2 and Fig. S1. A script that reruns the collisions behind three sets of values quoted in the text that come from neither the results file nor a figure (recording-interval check, the ejected collision of Fig. S1, contact-force balance), along with its output as three small CSV files. The README.md included in the ZIP documents every column, the parameter sweeps, and how to reproduce each figure.
