Data on the description of legacy and emerging pollutants in surface water (rivers, lakes, and reservoirs), their source, use, pathways, monitoring status, maximum allowable concentration in µg/l and their possibility of accumulating in sediments. The data also contains analytical methods used globally for the detection of these pollutant groups in water and sediment samples as well as a summary classification of pollutants by similar methods.
