Bacterial assemblages of sediment surface in the Arctic Ocean

The expedition of the R/V ARAON proceeded in the Arctic Ocean. The aim of this study is to know bacterial biogeography in the arctic seafloor. To analyze physiochemical property and bacterial diversity in the arctic sediment surface, total 22 sediment samples were collected from the Arctic Ocean in 2011 and 2012. Property of sediment surface was estimated by distribution of total bacterial DNA, biochemical class, and grain size to understand the Arctic sedimentary environment. Bacterial diversity and community structures were determined using a pyrosequencing approach.
