Analysis-ready subsets of GOSAT and GOSAT‑2 methane products used in "Satellite-based inversion of global methane fluxes: Capabilities and implications of GOSAT-2 measurements"

This repository contains analysis-ready subsets of GOSAT and GOSAT-2 methane products that were used to generate the results presented in the manuscript "Satellite-based inversion of global methane fluxes: Capabilities and implications of GOSAT-2 measurements" submitted to Earth System Science Data (ESSD). The original satellite products are publicly distributed by the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) through the official GOSAT and GOSAT-2 data archives. However, these official archives do not assign persistent digital object identifiers (DOIs), which limits the long-term citability and reproducibility of published scientific results. To address this limitation, the present dataset provides independently archived subsets of the original products that correspond exactly to the data used in the analysis. These subsets have been generated without modification of the original scientific content and are intended solely to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and persistent access to the data underlying the published results. The dataset includes: - GOSAT FTS SWIR Level 2 column-averaged dry-air mole fraction products - GOSAT-2 FTS-2 SWIR Level 2 column-averaged dry-air mole fraction products - GOSAT-2 Level 4A global CH4 flux products The temporal coverage, spatial domain, and variables included in this archive correspond to those used in the analysis described in the associated manuscript. Users requiring the full, continuously updated products should access the official NIES archives. This secondary archiving does not replace the official data distribution and is fully complementary to it.
