Attitudes toward IELTS OSR and Remark Policies

In this paper, I report on test takers' attitudes toward the IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) and Remark policies, examining how these policies influence candidates' decision-making within the high-stakes environment of English language testing. This is significant because both policies aim to improve the test-taking experience, yet may pose financial and emotional challenges, particularly for candidates from developing countries. By employing the Expectancy-Value Theory, I explore how factors like financial cost, perceived fairness, and emotional burdens shape participants' preferences for OSR over the Remark policy.
