LCC and Scimago indexes

In this repository, you find the datasets/indexes used in the methodology: "A protocol to gather incoming citations of retracted articles, characterize them, and apply a quantitative and qualitative analysis on them". Particularly in the classification of the citing entities (i.e. journals and books) according to subject areas and subject categories. The content of this repository consists of two files: <em><strong>lcc_lookup.csv</strong></em>: a tabular file with two columns – <em>lcc_code </em>and <em>lcc_subject</em><em>. </em>It is an index that maps the LCC code (represented by the first alphabet or the first two alphabets) with the corresponding subject. This index was generated manually based on the LCC classification at https://www.loc.gov/aba/cataloging/classification/lcco/ <em><strong>scimago_lookup.csv</strong></em>: a tabular file with two columns - <em>area</em> and <em>category. </em>It is an index which contains all the area-category combinations based on the Scimago classification.
