S. Derby infection has been a long-standing major problem in humans and is associated with animals products, particular pork in many parts of the world.

The aims of the project are to characterise S. Derby isolates from different sources; identify differences/similarities among isolates from the same/different sources (pig, turkeys, others); identify differences/similarities among isolates from humans and investigated sources; investigate the genetic elements that could be responsible for host adaptation and persistance along food chain.
