For proteins, the comparisons are made between the (A+T)-rich amino acids FYMINK (Phe, Tyr, Met, Ile, Asn, and Lys), and the (G+C)-rich amino acids GARP (Gly, Ala, Arg, and Pro). Asterisks indicate groupings based on molecular data but whose taxonomic validity remains to be established.
