Sea level and wave hindcast for the Northern Adriatic Sea

Description: This dataset contains a 27-year sea level and wave hindcast (1994-2020) over the Northern Adriatic Sea generated using the unstructured hydrodynamic model SHYFEM (https://github.com/SHYFEM-model/shyfem) and the spectral wave model WAVEWATCH III (https://polar.ncep.noaa.gov/waves/wavewatch). The numerical simulations were forced by ERA5 meteorological (mean sea level pressure and climate-corrected wind) fields (Benetazzo et al., 2022; https://doi.org/10.3390/w14101590).

Spatial coverage and resolution: 12.2-14.0 latitude; 42.65-45.8 longitude; spatial resolution of 0.025 degrees.

Temporal coverage and resolution: From 1 January 1994 to 31 December 2020 on an hourly basis.

Variables: water_level, significant_wave_height, peak_wave_direction, peak_wave_frequency, wave_mean_period, wave_from_direction.
