Benchmark Dataset: Optical Fiber Strain Measurements in High Strain-Gradient Configurations

This dataset supports the 2026 study "Assessing Reliability of cm-Scale Optical Fiber Strain Sensing in High Gradient Configurations through Benchmarking and Mechanical Modelling" (DOI:10.58286/32456). It contains the experimental and processed data used to evaluate centimeter-scale optical-fiber strain sensing under steep spatial strain gradients. All measurement files are provided as plain text (.txt or .csv) or parquet summary files Contents and structure: Datasources/FBG: D1_Spectra.parquet: processed spectral summaries for D1 sensors. test1/, test2/: raw FBG time-series files (.txt) and reference files (ref.txt). Datasources/OFDR: Organized by test (test1, test2) and sensor spacing (5mm, 10mm). direct/: absolute OFDR measurements (.txt) with filenames indicating applied load and sensor location. incremental/: differential OFDR measurements (.txt) comparing load steps. Datasources/FMCW: Measurement CSVs (.csv) and force logs (.txt) for multiple runs (e.g., 1_descending.csv, 4_220N.csv). Datasources/FEM.parquet: Finite-element model outputs and node/element metadata used for comparison to measurements. LATAM_DATA.parquet: Consolidated, processed dataset used for analysis and tabulation in the study.
