Chrysomallon squamiferum (Scaly-foot Snail) resequencing
收藏资源简介:
This study represents the first comprehensive population genomic analysis of Scaly-foot Snail across the Indian Ocean. We collated 125 individuals of the Scaly-foot Snail from eight distinct hydrothermal vents, encompassing its entire known range and all three recognized biogeographic provinces. The primary aims of this research are threefold: first, to assess the degree of genetic differentiation among these vent populations and identify potential dispersal barriers; second, to evaluate the strength, directionality, and historical patterns of gene flow and migration, both contemporary and ancient, in order to elucidate the demographic history and the formation of biogeographic provinces within Indian Ocean vents; and third, to generate data that can inform conservation strategies, particularly in identifying priority vents for protection, in light of anticipated deep-sea mining activities following the drafting of the Mining Code by the International Seabed Authority in 2025.
