Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae is believed to be the cause of nonprogressive pneumonia of sheep, goats and wild small ruminants. Although M. ovipneumoniae is an important concern in the sheep and goat industry, little is known about its virulence factors and other functional proteins such as adhesins and prominent immunogens. Sequencing of complete genome of M. ovipneumoniae will be helpful to understand the molecular mechanism of pathogenesis and to development of vaccine and diagnostic tools.
