Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU), NHERI 2024: Development of a Total Environmental Data Interaction System for the NSF NHERI LHPOST6

Weather monitoring systems are a continuously developing research topic that can be uniquely catered to specific needs of research sites and projects. This project involves the development of a data acquisition system designed for the NSF (National Science Foundation) NHERI (Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure) LHPOST6 (Large High Performance Outdoor Shake Table) site. The data in this project can be implemented at other sites and can be used to improve or advance current systems. In comparison to recent studies with weather monitoring systems, specifically microcontroller-based systems, this project incorporates a robust, custom user interface to improve user interaction and versatility of the overall system. This work is tailored to engineers, researchers, and other individuals interested in designing a custom weather monitoring and data acquisition system for their site/project.
