Annual report of air quality measurements in Austria 2015

This report summarises the results of the air quality measurements carried out by the federal states and the Federal Environment Agency: In 2015, the limit values for nitrogen dioxide were exceeded in seven federal states on busy roads. In the case of particulate matter, limit values were exceeded in Styria and Graz. The ozone pollution was well above the long-term average due to the warm midsummer, which resulted in large-scale exceedances of the target values. Some measuring stations in Carinthia and Styria exceeded the limit value of benzo(a)pyrene. More attention will have to be paid to this pollutant in the future. There were isolated exceedances for nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide and dust precipitation. The limits and targets for carbon monoxide, PM2.5, heavy metals and benzene were met in 2015.
