Plant Genome-Sequenced up to April 2025: A Comprehensive Table

In the biological world, the <b>genome sequencing</b> of plants provides genomic information that helps to decipher key mysteries to improve the plant or to know the function of genes. It also helps detect molecular markers, making it a great tool for developing new varieties. In agriculture, genome sequencing serves as a foundation tool for genetic improvement of crops. Moreover, the sequencing of plants, which might not have economic value, can also be a storehouse of genetic information, and if any crucial genes are identified there, they can be integrated later in the crops through an advanced and molecular breeding program. In this table, I collected the plants for which genome sequencing has been done in 2025 (up to April) and presented them below with scientific name, common name, plant type, and genome size (Mbp) in a table form. The compilation is intended as a quick reference resource for plant genetics and genomics researchers.
