Female biting midges belonging to the subgenus Lasiohelea of Forcipomyia are predominantly found in tropical and subtropical regions. Currently, genome information for ceratopogonid biting midges is limited and primarily focused on Culicoides sonorensis. In this study, we constructed a draft genome for F. taiwana using a long-read de novo assembly approach and revisited the published C. sonorensis genome for comparative genomic analysis.
