Oral cancer, particularly oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), is a major global health issue with low survival rates. Despite the easy access to the oral cavity, most cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage. Recent research suggests that microbiota plays a key role in oral cancer development. This pilot study aims to assess changes in the salivary microbiome of OSCC patients before and after OSCC surgery using Oxford Nanopore Technology ONT.
